Organizing 101 - Basics for this Moment
6 PM - 7:30 PM
Online Event: details at Facebook
If you are new to organizing or want to be a part of the conversation around tactics, strategy and demands in the Capital District, join us Tuesday, June 23 at 6 p.m. for an online presentation and discussion. From Black Panther Party to Black Lives Matter, there has always been organizing in NY. In this moment, people new to organizing (as well as allies and accomplices) want to build in their towns, villages and cities. All Of Us Co-Founders, Jamaica Miles and Shawn Young will share the importance of organizing basics and a brief look at the history and connection between the 1960s and now. I'm a Good Person! Isn't That Enough?
6 PM – 8 PM
Online event: details on Facebook
The next offering in YWCA-GCR's 2020 Mission Series, sponsored by Nacy Warner Associates and Heartspace Yoga and Healing Arts. Using historical and media images, Debby Irving, author of Waking Up White, examines how she used her white-skewed belief system to interpret the world around her. Socialized on a narrow worldview, Debby explores how she spent decades silently reaffirming harmful, archaic racial patterns instead of questioning the racial disparities and tensions she could see and feel. This workshop is designed to support white people in making the paradigm shift from ‘fixing’ and ‘helping’ those believed to be inferior, to focusing on internalized white superiority and its role in perpetuating racism at the individual, interpersonal, institutional, and cultural levels. This presentation includes pauses for reflection, dialog, and Q&A moderated by Clyanna Lightbourn, Statewide Civil Rights Organizer with Citizen Action of New York.

BLM Pride Protest
Gateway Park, Schenectady
2 PM
Join All Of Us for a BLM Pride Protest on Saturday, June 27th at 2pm in Schenectady at Gateway Park (across from Schenectady County Community College). On June 28th 1969, a series of violent acts amongst POC, police, and gay activists broke out outside of the Stonewall Inn, which was a known gay bar in NYC. The events became known as the Stonewall Riots. In honor of the brothers and sisters who fought that day and the ones that we have lost then and now, the All Of Us community is hosting a protest. Please join us in unity and solidarity to remember those that have fallen and to continue to fight for those of us here today.
Saturday June 27
Black Lives Matter, #sayhername
Townsend Park, Albany
Starts at 2 PM
The BLM movement intentionally centers Black Marginalized Genders. We’re specifically gathering Saturday 6/27 to #sayhername! Breonna Taylor’s murderers are still on the street! Come be in community with us as we lift up the Black Lives and voices that are historically silenced and buried. We’re also going to celebrate the lives of our fallen siblings! Social Distancing protocols will be in place, hand sanitizer, masks, water, snacks provided.
